"Dear Spectral rider,
Pure riding pleasure and rider safety are top priority in the development of our bikes. As a MTB rider you always have to be able to rely on your bike!
In the course of market observations by our quality management we have noticed cracks in the chain stays of a small number of Spectral frames. The matter has only occurred in isolated cases in frames from the first production months. There are no reported cases of crashes or restrictions of the riding performance. According to the current state of knowledge, the cause seems to be related to a welding process in the first production lot that in some cases can lead to a fine crack in the weld after only a few kilometers. The aluminum chain stay was used in the Spectral AL and Spectral CF model (model year 2018), to which your
bike also belongs.
When it comes to quality of our bikes, we do not accept any compromise: We take this quality matter very seriously and therefore we want to proactively replace all potentially affected chain stays of the identified production batch.
If you recognize a crack in your chain stay (see picture below), please refrain from riding your bike right away, even if the crack does not lead to a break according to current knowledge.
We will organize the replacement of the chain stay of your bike, and send to you when they come available in late July. In the meantime we will be sending out a Canyon care package to you directly. For questions please reply directly to this email or call us at 1-833-2260-9661 and our customer service team will assist you.
As passionate riders we know that every day on the bike is precious. We promise to do everything we can to get you back on the trails as soon as possible! We have informed the US Consumer Product Safety Commission of this issue, and if additional steps are taken we will notify you immediately.
We sincerely want to apologize for the inconvenience and thank you very much for your support.
Best regards
The Canyon Crew""
