Cim viac zaberas, tym viac tlaci - to sice plati, ale len vtedy, ked sa uz obe casti ratchetu vzajomne dotykaju. Vzajomny dotyk zabezpecuje pruzina, ktora ma identicku ulohu ako pri DT a pri volnobehu sa teda ratchety dotykaju.
Ak by to bolo bez pruziny (alebo by bola velmi kratka) a ratchety by vobec neboli v kontakte, tak by si mal volnobezku na obe strany - lebo by nemalo co tlacit zltu naspat do zelenej, ked by sa pri volnobehu oddelili. Pozri obrazok.

Samotny hluk ovplyvnuje urcite vela faktorov: pruzina, profil a pocet zubov, vzajomny uhol ploch ratchetu.
Shimano zjavne nieco zle nadizajnovalo (v prospech nizkej hlucnosti), ked teraz maju problem.
